Joyce Williams lived a happy and full life. When the devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease followed the death of her beloved husband, Bill, her family made the decision to move Joyce into our Langholme care home in Falmouth, Cornwall, to help manage her growing care needs.
As part of Joyce's care, she received ongoing music therapy sessions to help her deal with the anxiety of her condition. This short film captures the impact the sessions had on her.
People living with dementia often experience fear and anxiety in their daily lives. But music therapy can provide an alternative, non-verbal method of engagement and creativity.
With your help this Christmas, we can continue to provide the magic of music therapy to older people living with dementia. People like Joyce.
A festive gift of £30 could fund a one-to-one music therapy session for an older person living with dementia.
